Toy treadle sewing machines are quite hard to find.
This machine was likely manufactured in the 1920s sometime.
The base is a Mission Oak style wood stand.

The decal ruler shows wear.
The table top is approximately 10" x 20" and stands 20" high.

 Flywheel end
The set up is for treadling or for hand cranking.

 The left side end

Note the small treadle pedal and wooden pitman arm.

The body of this toy is cast iron.  The front plate is tin.
It has a chain-drive mechanism inside.
It makes a chain stitch.  However, we have not attempted to stitch with this machine.  It does all turn freely.

The machine is about 4.25" wide at the flywheel.  It stands about 7" high to the top of the spool pin. and it is about 9" from the end of the stitch plate to the tip of the hand crank handle.

Although the heritage marks show the evidence of age, the beautiful rose decal is still in amazing shape.

The tension mechanism is not original to this machine, nor is the wire thread guide at the top of the needle bar.

The finish does show 'heritage markings'.

Another close up of the replacement tension mechanism and tread guide.

The stitch plate showing evidence of it's age with 'pitting' evident.

If this flywheel could talk, it would no doubt have many stories to tell about the children who have operated this machine.  On careful inspection, you will note that the flywheel has undergone some repair.  It does not turn perfectly true.  Somewhere in it's history, it must have sustained some damage, possibly do to a fall or a hit, and I can imagine the grief this would have caused some poor child.  The repair was not perfect.... but this adds to the charm of the unknown story of this machine and it's operators over the last 80 or 90 years.
